While living in California in 1967 we bought a "blue heeler" bitch on Halloween day. For many years thereafter Goblin was a delight and joy to our household. While we were back home vacationing in Texas, our 8 month old pup proved her value by turning a bull headed toward grandpa and putting the bovine in the stock trailer. Through the years we had owned other dogs but none got under our skin and left its mark on our hearts like she did. After "Goblin" no other breed would do . We even learned that the real name for the breed was the Australian Cattle Dog. and the "blue heeler" was a slang term that had been around for almost a hundred years.

1981 brought us to our first AKC bitch. Erostoga Jillaroo Aust. was an Australian import that was to become the foundation of today's gravan Kennel. "Jill" set her place in history as being the top producing bitch in the US with over 22 titled get. In 1992 another bloodline was incorporated into the gravan program with the importation of Aust. Champion Kombinalong Super Impact(Packer). He was followed by two bitches and then in 1996 by Australian - New Zealand Champion Kombinalong Stryk Super (Matches). The Kombinalong line carries with it excellent type, working ability, and winning conformation. Further more their breeder, Narelle Robertson is one of the few Down Under folks that does genetic testing.

Today after 30 years of nothing but the Australian Cattle Dog and over 80 Champions, gravan Kennels continues to breed quality dogs with the idea that just being "pretty ain't good enough".

The factors involved are:

        • 1) Sound typey conformation and free movement.

        • 2) Strong natural working instinct.

        • 3) Healthy sound genetics through testing.
