The Australian Stumpy Tail Cattle Dog is an older breed than the Australian Cattle Dog. They are actually the predecessor to the Cattle Dog and are recognized as a true and separate breed.....Not a variety. This breed IS recognized by the Canadian Kennel Club and is a part of the Herding Group.

A 10 week old Stumpy pup!

The Stumpy and the ACD are truly unique, but they are not for the dog for everyone. Before you decide to buy a Stumpy or a Cattle Dog, ask yourself these four questions.........

• Do I have the time to daily train, exercise, and play with my dog?
  
  
• Do I understand that this dog needs mental stimulation such as
  obedience training, and am I prepared to undertake this training with my dog....in ANY kind of weather?
  
  
• Do I have the room and facilities to make sure this dog is comfortable?
  
  
• Am I prepared to love and be responsible for the same dog for its entire lifetime?

If you answered yes to these questions......then you might be ready for a Cattle Dog or a Stumper.
